, TCL announced its third-generation mini LED backlight technology, labelled "OD Zero". The company also joined the Google TV trend, demonstrated its rollable mobile phone display concept, and launched a pair of Wearable Display glasses. There is a certain basis for discussion, so let us break down these announcements for you.

After Sony announced that it will adopt a new version of the Google TV user interface, the OEM will follow the latest
. The brand will sell TVs supporting Google TV in the United States and other regions of the world later this year. It is not clear which series will get the makeover of Google TV, but TCL said it will be available in its mini-LED, 8K and QLED series.
TCL will also update its 6-series TVs at CES 2021. The new TV further promotes the long-term cooperative relationship between TCL and mobile phones.
All 2021 models will have 8K resolution. The screen size of the new 6-series TCL TVs is still inconclusive, but we know they will be available later this year.
In addition to the new 8K series, TCL will also launch a new XL series-this is its first 85-inch TV series. There will be three different models for you to choose from: low-cost 4 series LCD Roku TV, 4K HDR QLED Roku TV and top mini LED 8K TV. TCL stated that the XL series "will fit any budget and exceed the highest performance standards to provide home entertainment beyond life."
TCL also used the CES 2021 platform to showcase its new "OD Zero" mini LED TV technology. The name comes from the 0mm distance between the mini-LED backlight layer and the LCD display layer. TCL claims that the reduced distance can achieve highly uniform image quality, improved contrast, and minimal halo effects.
Since the distance between the light source and the panel is the smallest, you can also expect the ultra-thin TV with this new technology. The exact TV model will be announced later this year and will go on sale soon.
LG is not the only one to show off
At this year's CES, although its version may be closer to release than any other version. TCL also demonstrated a rollable device with an AMOLED display, which can be expanded from 6.7 inches to 7.8 inches with a single tap. The thickness of the smartphone is less than 10 mm, making it much thinner than regular phones
The brand said that the device mechanism can use up to 100,000 slides, and its software interface can adapt to one-handed use and multitasking.
However, TCL's rollable phone is just a concept aimed at promoting its display technology. There is no news about actual mass production.
In addition to rollable mobile phones, TCL also released a 17-inch flexible OLED display with a thickness of only 0.18 mm, which can be rolled up like a reel to fit in a small space.
Finally, TCL's display product portfolio in 2021 also includes a pair of glasses with built-in dual 1080p FHD micro OLED displays. They allow you to watch videos and play games anytime, anywhere, as if you were placing a 140-inch screen a few meters away.
Again, there is no news about the price yet, but TCL says they will be available in certain markets later this year. The company is also working with content subscription services to bring new wearable devices to the United States as part of the 5G smart phone bundle.
